Lymph-edema is chronic swelling of part of the body due to dysfunction or damage in the lymphatic system. Research on the lymphatic system was limited before the 21st century. But breakthroughs in technology now allow researchers to see and study our tiny, essential lymphatic channels and nodes. Research is leading to earlier diagnosis and better treatments for lymphedema, which affects millions of people around the world.
If you think you have lymphedema, make an appointment with a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT)
for education and treatment.
I’m a writer, not a medical professional. But researching my own condition and editing newsletter articles for the Lighthouse Lymphedema Network have allowed me to question experts and learn. My blog shares good news about breakthroughs in understanding, diagnosis, and treatment for lymphatic dysfunction. It is not advice from a medical professional. See above for my advice.
